Meagan & mason's wedding at hummingbird hill events

There are some couples who become so much more than clients, and Meagan and Mason are exactly that kind of couple.
I’ve had the absolute joy of photographing these two for the past three years. Having the opportunity to document their relationship from the early days, all the way to their wedding day on July 11th was incredibly special.
What started with a couples session at Research Park in College Station eventually turned into their senior portraits at Texas A&M, their engagement photos, Meagan’s bridal portraits, and finally, the big day we had all been waiting for.
And what a day it was.
Their wedding at Hummingbird Hill Events was filled with so much love, the sweetest family and friends, and a bridal party that knew how to have a good time.
Set in the beautiful Texas countryside, Hummingbird Hill is a dream location for a wedding. Between the peaceful lake, the gorgeous chapel with stained glass windows, the reception hall with high ceilings and stunning chandeliers, and the large Airbnb where the bridal party can stay together. It has everything you could want for a relaxed, memorable wedding weekend in between Houston & College Station.
wedding details in the chapel
I started the day inside the chapel photographing all of the little details that make a wedding day uniquely yours.
Meagan’s dress, their wedding rings, their Aggie rings, and all of the little pieces they had carefully chosen for their day were photographed inside the naturally lit chapel. The chapel pews and windows made the perfect backdrop and added a timeless charm to the photos.
As a College Station & Houston wedding photographer, I always love incorporating personal details into a wedding gallery, and their Aggie rings were especially fitting. These two have so many memories tied to Texas A&M, so having that little piece of their story included throughout their wedding day felt perfect.
From there, I photographed the groomsmen and groom's portraits in the chapel before heading upstairs to spend some time with the girls.
Groom & groomsmen photos
Before heading to the bridal suite, I spent some time with Mason and his groomsmen inside the chapel.
We started with some portraits of Mason on his own before bringing in the groomsmen. There was plenty of laughter and personality as the guys settled into their photos.
I always love this part of the wedding day because it gives the groom and his closest friends a chance to hang out, have a little fun, and celebrate together before the ceremony begins. These photos ended up being a great mix of classic portraits and genuine moments that captured the energy of Mason and his group.
getting ready with the girls
Up in the bridal suite, the energy was ecstatic. There was excitement, laughter, a few emotional moments, and that surreal feeling that the day was finally here.
When it was time for Meagan to get into her dress, her mom helped zip her up while her sister helped put her shoes on.
Those quiet moments with the people who have loved you your whole life are everything.
Once she was dressed, we moved into bridesmaid portraits and bridal portraits around the chapel and outside. Meagan looked drop dead gorgeous, and Hummingbird Hill gave us so many different backdrops to work with.
the bridesmaids
This group of ladies was so easy to work with-relaxed, on top of it, and ready to stand by their bride at the alter. We started inside the chapel, to escape the summer heat, then wrapped up with a few fun shots outside. When photographic weddings in the humidity, I had to be sure to prep my gear by taking one of my cameras outside early to defog. Thank God I had one of my most trusted assistants there to help me stay ahead of the game.
First look with dad
Once we finished up with the bridal party photos, I sent Meagan to freshen up before her first look with her dad.
This is such an emotional time, when everything starts to feel very real.
During first looks, I give direction in the beginning, but enjoy capturing this moment while staying quiet and giving plenty of space for my clients to soak everything in.
There were tears, lots of hugs, and kindhearted memories shared.
the first touch
Meagan and Mason decided they didn't want to do a traditional first look, but they still wanted to have a private moment together before the ceremony. Instead, they chose a first touch.
Each on other sides of the door, they held hands without seeing each other and read their private vows to one another.
This was a very passionate time, and honestly, one of those moments that reminds me why I love wedding photography so much. We were all crying.
There is something so special about giving a couple a few minutes alone in the middle of a busy wedding day to slow down and remember what the entire day is actually about.
going to the chapel
Then, the moment we've waited for was finally there.
With their family and friends gathered around them, Meagan and Mason exchanged vows in the beautiful Hummingbird Hill chapel. The windows, the countryside setting, and the people surrounding them created such a beautiful atmosphere.
After months and years of photographing their story, watching them finally become husband and wife was very special.
COCKTAIL HOUR, GROUP PHOTOS, AND A LITTLE TIME TO BREATHE
After the ceremony, we moved into family portraits and bridal party photos while everyone enjoyed cocktail hour.
As we wrapped up the portraits, Meagan and Mason were able to sneak away for a private moment to freshen up and take a breath before their grand entrance into the reception.
I always work with my couples to create intentional pockets of time during their wedding day. Your special day goes by incredibly fast, and having a few minutes together, without everyone around you, can make such a difference.
grand entrance & first dance
Before long, it was time to get the party started.
Meagan and Mason made their grand entrance into the reception before sharing their first dance as husband and wife.
After spending so much of their relationship documenting these different milestones, seeing them have that first dance was one of those full-circle moments.
Then we snuck outside for some newlywed portraits by the lake.
Sunset Couple portraits by the lake
One of my favorite things about Hummingbird Hill Events is how much variety the property offers. After photographing so much of the day inside the chapel and around the venue, we were able to take Meagan and Mason down by the lake for their couple portraits.
We were nervous about potential storms, but thankfully they held off and we were able to take stunning portraits outside with some awesome clouds.
The Texas countryside surrounding the venue gave their portraits a romantic, relaxed feel, and it was the perfect opportunity for the two of them to step away from the reception for a few minutes and just enjoy being married.
These are the moments I always hope my couples get on their wedding day — a little time to forget about the timeline, forget about the camera, and simply be together.
a reception full of dancing, friends, and tequila
Then it was back to the party.
And this group knew how to celebrate.
The dance floor stayed packed, everyone was having the best time, and there may or may not have been quite a few tequila shots throughout the night.
There was so much laughter, dancing, and genuine joy filling the reception. Looking around the room, it was obvious how loved Meagan and Mason are.
After a beautiful ceremony and an emotional start to the day, the reception was the perfect way to let loose and celebrate.
ending the night in their jeep
And because this wedding was full of personality from beginning to end, their grand exit had to be just as fun.
The night ended with Meagan and Mason driving away in their Jeep, officially beginning their next chapter together.
After three years of photographing these two, getting to photograph their wedding day was so much more than another wedding. I got to watch their relationship grow through so many different seasons — from a couples session, to their time at Texas A&M, to their engagement, Meagan’s bridal portraits, and finally, their wedding day.
Being trusted to document that entire journey is something I don't take for granted.
Congratulations, Meagan and Mason. Your summer wedding was full of love, laughter, family, friendship, aggie pride, tequila, and so many moments worth remembering.
I am so thankful I got to be there to photograph it all.
